Lazarus Health Day 2019
September 22 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
For more than a decade, Lazarus has held an annual Health Day in the heart of Atlanta. This year, we will gather together on Sunday, September 22 from 2-6pm at North Avenue Presbyterian Church on Peachtree Street and celebrate good health and kinship with our brothers and sisters in the homeless community. We need your help to make this meaningful event happen. You don’t have to be a doctor or nurse to volunteer.
Volunteers who work in the medical field, or are currently in school, can help in these areas: basic medical screenings, blood pressure, diabetic checks, asthma screenings, foot/wound care, routine physicals, dental cleanings, eye exams, and mental health screenings. In addition to the screenings and exams, OTC medication and eyeglasses are supplied as needed, and hygiene kits are handed out to everyone.

Art: Volunteers provide the space and materials to create art or just have fun.
Bookstore: Volunteers sort through books, and then help guests find just what they’d like to read.
Clothing Store: Volunteers sort through used jeans and shoes, and new underwear and socks, and assist guests with finding right size and type.
Entertainment: Volunteers help with games, karaoke, dance competitions, etc, and can join in on the fun as well!
Food: Volunteers prepare drinks and make lunch (smoked turkey sandwiches, fruit, chips and other snacks are served in brown paper bags) and then help pass them out.
Hospitality: Volunteers work in conjunction with the Registration team and event organizers to help our guests and other volunteers feel welcomed, included, and informed.
Hygiene: Volunteers offer haircuts, manicures, pedicures, facials and makeovers (You don’t have to be certified!)
Job Prep: Volunteers offer resume help, interview tips, email set-up, and basic job search help.
Kids Section: Volunteers facilitate activities and games for kids and their parents. (Not child care!)
Registration: Volunteers welcome and sign in guests and other volunteers.
Setup / Teardown: Volunteers will help set up and then pack up the tents, tables, and chairs for each section. You can sign up to either or both if you plan to stay for the entire event.
Sponsorship: Health Day is our biggest event of the year and our most expensive. We now average around 1000 people year in and year out. If you are interested in helping sponsor the event please let us know!
