LOCATION: Eastern Market Metro Plaza (701 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, Washington, DC 20003)
We are excited to hold our first Health Day in Washington D.C. this fall! It will be a great day for our community as we provide free medical services, including flu shots. We will also have food, music, games, books, and other resources that will make it a fun time of celebrating good health and kinship with one another.
We are looking for non-medical volunteers in the following areas:
Registration (Shifts: 9:30a - 12:30p / 12:30p - 3:30p)
Welcome guests as they arrive, assist with sign-in, and help direct to different areas of the event. This role sets the tone for the day with a warm, friendly first impression and ensures attendees feel informed and supported from the moment they arrive.
Costume Closet (Shifts: 9:30a - 12:30p / 12:30p - 3:30p)
Help kids and families “shop” for free costumes in a fun, welcoming space. Volunteers will assist with organizing costumes by size, helping guests find what they need, and keeping the area tiday and joyful. Creativity, friendliness, and a Halloween spirit encouraged!
Books (Shifts: 9:30a - 12:30p / 12:30p - 3:30p)
Support our community “bookstore” where guests can browse and take books at no cost. Volunteers will organize books by genre/age, assist guests with finding their interests, and keep the area orderly. A love for reading and helping others fits this section perfectly!
Entertainment (Shifts: 9:30a - 12:30p / 12:30p - 3:30p)
Help bring the fun! Looking for upbeat, energetic volunteers who can encourage guests to enjoy outdoor games and activities, keeping things running smoothly and safely.
Job prep (Shifts: 9:30a - 12:30p / 12:30p - 3:30p)
Support guests with essential tools for finding employment, assisting with creating or improving resumes, practicing interview questions, and exploring job search strategies. This role invlolves one-on-one support, encouragement, and practical guidance. Experience with job coaching or resume writing would be great, but is not required.
Food & Beverage (Shifts: 9:30a - 12:30p / 12:30p - 3:30p)
Assist with setting up, serving, restocking, and cleaning the food area, making sure all guests are nourished and happy. A warm attitude and team spirit will help guests feel welcomed as they get something to eat and drink.
Setup (Shift: 8a - 10a)
Be part of the team that gets Health Day ready for everyone! Volunteers will unload and arrange supplies, tables, and chairs, as well as hang signage and organize stations. This is a great area for anyone who enjoys working more behind-the-scenes.
Teardown (Shift: 3p - 5p)
Help wrap up a great day by breaking down tables and chairs, packing up supplies, cleaning up the space, and making sure all is left in good condition. Looking for team players who don’t mind a little lifting and want to finish the day strong.

Our 2025 Super Bowl Party was so much fun once again! More than 150 guests and volunteers hung out and had a great time eating and watching the big game together.
