Ward 6 Health Day

On October 25, 2025, we held our first ever Ward 6 Health Day, and what a day it was! It was everything we hoped it would be” more than 200 neighbors and volunteers coming together, families feeling supported, and a whole lot of joy on the plaza near the Eastern Market Metro station.

Our guests took advantage of the health check-ups, got flu shots and other medical resources, enjoyed meeting a variety of local partners, and picked out Halloween costumes with their kids (about 70 kids were there)! We served 240 meals and gave away lots of books and other resources.

Every table, every activity, every interaction, and every smile played a part in creating a space where people felt seen, welcomed, and connected.

Our founder and D.C. staffer, Allison McGill, said it was such a joy to see some of the families and kids the next weekend trick-or-treating in their costumes from the event - the little girls and boys dressed up as their favorite princesses and superheroes.

It was a beautiful day for the D.C. community in the midst of a challenging season. We are so thankful for the volunteers and partners who helped make this a fun and meaningful time together with our unhoused neighbors.
